Description
Designed for measuring and logging the parameters required for energy consumption diagnostics, the Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger is a compact and comprehensive instrument with four voltage inputs and three current inputs. It is suitable for measuring and monitoring all types of electrical networks, including single-, split- and three-phase systems. The Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger can be used to monitor circuits without cutting off the mains power supply.
This version of the Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger is supplied with the popular MA194-350 MiniFlex Clamps.
Measurement
The Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger is capable of performing RMS and DC (50Hz, 60Hz, and 400Hz) measurements with 128 samples/cycles simultaneously on each phase. It also supports analogue readings and can be used to measure and characterise electric motors.
It automatically recognises the type of sensor connected and all measurements are conducted as per the IEEE 1459 standard. In addition to measuring an array of electrical parameters, the Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger can calculate total harmonic distortion for currents and voltages and the breakdown of energy losses. Voltage and current ratios facilitate the Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger’s wide measurement range; it can measure:
- AC/DC voltage up to 1000V
- Current up to 10kA AC or 5kA DC
- Power (active, apparent, and reactive): 10 W/var/VA to 10 GW/Gvar/GVA
- Energy: 4 EWh/ 4 EVAh/ 4 EVarh
- Total energy (4 quadrants)
- Phase data: cos φ, tan Φ, power factor (PF)
- Harmonics up to the 50th order
- Crest factor
The Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger also features an Alarm mode with user-defined limits, an events log, and an email alert.
Measurements and calculations are recorded to the Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger’s SD card. It supports continuous monitoring with an interval of 200ms per measurement. The SD card can store several years’ worth of data.
Communication
Data can be transferred or recovered using one of five built-in communication interfaces: USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G/GPRS. The new 3G/GPRS mode allows you to insert a SIM into the PEL104 to enable remote connection via a GSM 3G link. Support for an array of interfaces means you can recover measurements remotely from anywhere in the world.
Chauvin Arnoux’s Android application can also be used to check the PEL104 is operating correctly as well as modify its configuration remotely. This function is particularly useful when measuring motors, rotation speed, torque, and energy efficiency as you don’t have to add specific sensors to monitor a motor’s behaviour in real-time.
Software
Once data has been downloaded, the Chauvin Arnoux PEL Transfer Software can be used to analyse it, as well as decompose the losses detected, and calculate the cost of the power consumed. The cost of power consumption is displayed in the user-specified currency.
Chauvin Arnoux’s DataView Software enables report creation including customised reports generated using the specified alarm thresholds.
Ergonomic
Portable and rugged with a magnetised casing, the Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger is ideal for installation in small spaces such as electrical cabinets. It self-powers via its voltage input (up to 600V) removing the need for a battery and has an ingress protection rating of IP54. Finally, the Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger features an easy-to-read, backlit, triple display with an LCD screen.
The Chauvin Arnoux PEL104 Power & Energy Logger is a compact, comprehensive, and convenient solution to monitoring and optimising energy efficiency.
