Description
Chauvin Arnoux F65 Earth Leakage Clamp Meter
In the event of an insulation fault or untimely tripping of RCDs, the F65 clamp is the ideal tool for detecting and measuring the leakage currents flowing to earth.
The versatile F65 clamp also offers all the functions of a multimeter clamp.
In addition, the F65 clamp is equipped with an anti-harmonics filter to ensure that the measurements remain accurate even in the presence of distorted signals.
To measure such currents accurately an earth leakage clamp with a measurement bandwidth in excess of 1.25kHz will be required if it is to cover the first 25 harmonics, and 2.5kHz for the first 50, many conventional current clamps max out at 400Hz or 1000Hz, so, if your earth leakage clamp is not including harmonic currents in the measurements then you’re not measuring all of the leakage current in the circuit. More specifically, the readings obtained will all be erroneously low.
The F65 from Chauvin Arnoux will measure leakage currents down to a resolution of 10 microamps with frequencies up to 3kHz, more than the 2.5kHz required to see the first fifty harmonics, it also has further features and benefits including measurement of voltage, frequency, resistance and continuity.
In the modern world where almost everything is controlled electronically, problems with harmonics are here to stay and it is important that the electrical contractor is equipped to measure them
Please see the recently published article in Professional Electrician published April 2022. Advertising the Chauvin Arnoux F65 Earth Leakage Clamp which is equivalent to the Megger DCM305E, The full article can be found on this link: https://issuu.com/hamervillemediagroup/docs/pe_april_2022/36
The article details how important it is that the instrument used to measure earth leakage has a wide enough bandwidth
to take into account harmonics.
